Starbucks prevails in legal challenge, 2023

A federal court dismissed a lawsuit accusing Starbucks executives and directors of violating their fiduciary duty to shareholders.

As per the reports, National Center for Public Policy Research, filed the lawsuit as the company has been supporting corporate diversity policies.

The complaint filed in federal court in Ft. Myers, Fla., alleges that Target Chief Executive Brian Cornell and the company’s board has misled shareholders about the degree to which they monitored social and political issues, while the company pursued a line of LGBTQ-pride merchandise, including rainbow-eared Mickey Mouse apparel which prompted a customer backlash.
