Swiggy has rolled out new features for its Food on Train service just in time for the festive season, enhancing convenience and variety for train travelers across India. Passengers can now explore ‘City Best’ meals, a curated selection of iconic dishes from local eateries at over 115 stations, while Easy Eats offers hassle-free meals with neat packaging and cutlery for on-the-go dining. Swiggy has also introduced a Pure Veg section, catering to vegetarians and those observing Navratri fasts, alongside an Offer Zone providing up to 60% discounts across 30+ restaurants.
Commenting on the launch, Deepak Maloo, VP – Food Strategy, Customer Experience & New Initiatives at Swiggy, said, “We’ve listened to our customers and rolled out smarter, personalized meal choices that make every journey delicious and convenient. With City Best, Easy Eats, and Pure Veg options, we aim to make the journey as enjoyable as the destination.” The upgraded Food on Train platform also allows users to place orders up to 25% faster, even on patchy internet, ensuring a seamless experience for India’s nearly 16 lakh daily train passengers.
In Kolkata, the new features bring passengers a chance to enjoy regional favorites like spicy fish curries and Kolkata-style biryanis delivered directly to their train seats. Local travelers have welcomed the initiative, noting that it bridges the gap between station food limitations and hygienic, quality meals on-the-move, especially during the festive rush.
