The Tourism Ministry's Swadesh Darshan initiative now includes five Northeast Indian states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura. The progress of the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, a major project aimed at the integrated development of theme-based tourism circuits across India, was recently announced by the Tourism Ministry. The Swadesh Darshan scheme, which was introduced in 2014–15, has since evolved into Swadesh Darshan 2.0, which places a greater focus on creating responsible and sustainable travel destinations.
