Taneira begin its industry first ‘weavershala’ program

Taneira – A TATA Product is partnering with ‘Manik Dutta’ in Phulia, West Bengal for its industry first, ‘weaver shala’ program. The initiative aims to give back to the Jamdani weavers of the region by uplifting their working conditions and modernizing techniques while preserving traditional and authentic weaves for the future generations. Taneira will promote excellence in the production of Jamdani sarees in silk, cotton silk and pure cotton.

The prestigious event was inaugurated by Mr. Ambuj Narayan, Chief Executive Officer, Taneira.  Speaking about this initiative, Mr. Ambuj Narayan, Chief Executive Officer, Taneira said, “Our plan is to grow this program to other states and elevate the lives ofweavers across the country.”  This initiative significantly emphasizes on upgrading the infrastructure, and providing an adequate workplace for artisans.

 Taneira has closely worked with, ‘Manik Dutta’, a multi-generational unit involved in the creation of hand woven Jamdani sarees with over 10 craftsmen in the factory and managing over 300 looms in the vicinity, for their growth and development. Mr. Manik Dutta, Founder, Manik Dutta Factory commented “Our partnership with a market leader like Taneira will help in broadening the production of Jamdani weaves, transforming the lives of the weaver community for a better tomorrow and inspiring the younger generations to come back to learn the languishing art.”
