Tinder U designs for university and college students to connect and meet

Tinder has launched Tinder U, an exclusive in-app feature for university and college students in India, marking a strategic expansion into the growing Gen Z online dating market. With students increasingly turning to digital platforms for connections, Tinder U offers a campus-centric experience, making it easier for students to meet peers with shared interests.

Tinder U requires students to verify their college credentials using a valid .edu.in, .ac.in, or .in email address. Once enrolled, users can personalize their profiles with college details, club affiliations, and hobbies, enhancing discoverability and compatibility. The launch follows a OnePoll survey indicating that 57% of Indian young adults (18-25) have formed meaningful relationships through dating apps, with 67% having dated someone they met online.

As one of India’s leading educational hubs, Kolkata presents a significant opportunity for Tinder U. With institutions like Jadavpur University, Presidency University, and St. Xavier’s College, the city has a vibrant student population actively engaging in digital platforms. The trend of online matchmaking is rapidly gaining traction, making Tinder U an attractive choice for students seeking friendships, study partners, or romantic connections. “Tinder U is designed to provide Gen Z a safe, inclusive, and interactive space to build connections beyond their classrooms,” said Aditi Shorewal, Communications Lead for Tinder India. The feature is now available across college campuses nationwide, strengthening Tinder’s position in the Indian dating market.
