According to a media source on Tuesday, a team of Afghan Taliban, made up of intelligence and security professionals, recently paid a covert visit to Islamabad to discuss how to respond to Pakistan’s worries about the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is a banned organisation.
A mid-level delegation led by Abdullah Ghazanavi, the chief of the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), was verified by Taliban officials in Kabul, the Express Tribune newspaper claimed, citing sources. The mission was in Islamabad to discuss the TTP and threats to Pakistan.
The visit was a follow-up to a high-profile group’s earlier trip to Kabul, where they were briefed on the measures the Afghan government had taken to deal with TTP. The mission was led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
