Tourism Minister hoping, Meghalaya tourism is gonna open a huge human resources

In response to criticism of Meghalaya’s festival expenditure, the state administration stated on Thursday that it is investing in the tourism sector rather than spending it. Tourism is expanding rapidly, with GST collections increasing by the day.  Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh clarified that wasted spending is an investment in tourism. Lyngdoh highlighted the department’s progress, stating that the Cherry Blossom Festival would take place on November 15 and 16, featuring notable international singers like as Akon, Boney M, Lucas, other rappers, as well as state and local performers.

 Meghalaya will introduce MMA for the first time, including competitors from Thailand and the Philippines. Lyngdoh noted that the state government is promoting Meghalaya as a top tourist destination in India. The tangible economic benefits are obvious, and this will aid local resources as well. Meghalaya invests ₹5 crore in the Cherry Blossom Festival, whereas Nagaland spends ₹10 crore on the Hornbill Festival.  He emphasized that these festivals aim to attract both domestic and foreign tourists. 

Lyngdoh also announced that, for the first time, the Japanese government will collaborate with the Meghalayan government in the Cherry Blossom Festival. The government hopes that this relationship will offer up opportunities for cultural exchanges with Japan. He stated that the government is fully aware of the benefits of the state and local economy. Lyngdoh added that it’s not only about the festivals. These events assist to promote Meghalaya as a destination with distinct selling points. Nature, culture, music, climate, and cuisine all contribute to the development of Meghalaya’s human resources.
