Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Maharashtra to explore establishing a Green Field Manufacturing Facility at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. This follows TKM’s recent investment in a third plant in Karnataka, underscoring its commitment to India’s automotive sector.
The MOU was signed by Dr. Harshadeep Kamble, Principal Secretary (Industries), Government of Maharashtra, and Sudeep Santram Dalvi, Director & Chief Communications Officer of TKM, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and key TKM executives including MD and CEO Masakazu Yoshimura and Vice Chairperson Manasi Tata.
The new facility aims to enhance TKM’s focus on advanced green technologies, creating jobs and driving economic growth. This move is significant for Siliguri’s market, where Toyota’s expansion could boost consumer demand and improve access to world-class automotive products and services. The strategic location will facilitate better logistics, benefiting markets in Siliguri and beyond. Masakazu Yoshimura stated, “This MOU marks a pivotal step in our commitment to sustainable mobility solutions in India.” TKM’s ongoing investments, including a Rs. 3,300 crore project in Karnataka, reflect its dedication to “Make in India” and align with the country’s vision for a greener future.
