Two arrested in Manipur protest case

The Manipur Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the ongoing protests in Thoubal district. The arrests were made on September 11, following specific intelligence inputs, from the southern side of Sanjenthong under the jurisdiction of Porompat Police Station, Imphal East District.

The accused have been identified as Laishram Roshan Singh (26) of Khangabok Tangkha Leikai and Moirangthem Bumbum Singh (21) of Khangabok Meisnam Leikai. A live tear gas shell was recovered from their possession.

In a separate operation, police conducted a search and area domination exercise in the vulnerable areas of Churachandpur district, leading to the recovery of a large cache of weapons. The haul included a 7.5-foot rocket, a modified M-16 rifle, large and medium-sized country-made mortars, bomb launchers, and other explosives.
