Aditya Birla Education Trust’s Ujaas initiative, led by Founder Ms. Advaitesha Birla, will mark a significant milestone in raising awareness about menstrual health and hygiene in Nagaland, collaborating with NIRMAN, a local NGO partner. Ujaas has launched its first phase of engagement with adolescent girls and women through local schools, orphanages, government colleges, girls hostels, and communities.
The strategic partnership aims to drive awareness, dismantle taboos, and foster positive conversations about menstrual health and hygiene. The first phase involved age-appropriate awareness sessions and the distribution of sanitary napkins. Ujaas’ commitment to working closely with the community is evident. The initiative aims to distribute over 250,000 menstrual pads nationwide, reflecting Ujaas’ commitment to addressing menstrual health challenges, empowering women, and creating positive community impacts.
The ‘Ujaas Menstrual Health Express’ is a unique initiative in India, covering 25 states and 107 cities. The Menstrual Health Express Van, designed to navigate diverse regions and communities, will engage with local NGOs to learn about menstruation cultures and practices. Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Advaitesha Birla, Founder of Ujaas emphasised, “In the state of Nagaland, we have reached out to schools, hostels, government run colleges and local communities driving awareness for menstrual health and hygiene through informative age appropriate awareness workshops delivered by trained professionals.
