Yamaha Motor India has announced a special 70th Anniversary price benefit of ₹5,000 on its flagship R15 series, effective from January 5. With this revision, the R15 range now starts at ₹1,50,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi), reinforcing the brand’s focus on making its sport motorcycle lineup more accessible to India’s growing base of performance-oriented riders. The R15 has been a key product for Yamaha in India, shaping the entry-level performance segment with over one million units produced to date.
The motorcycle is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with Yamaha’s DiASil cylinder technology and the signature Deltabox frame. Advanced features such as Traction Control System, Assist and Slipper Clutch, Upside-Down Front Forks, Linked-Type Monocross Suspension and Quick Shifter on select variants underline its track-inspired positioning and strong youth appeal.
In Kolkata, dealers report steady demand for the R15 among young working professionals and college-goers who prioritise performance styling with daily rideability. The new price savings are expected to improve enquiry levels in the premium sports-commuter category, with retailers anticipating stronger festive-season-like sentiment in urban pockets of the city.
Under the new pricing, the Yamaha R15 S is listed at ₹1,50,700, the R15 V4 at ₹1,66,200 and the R15 M at ₹1,81,100 (ex-showroom). Yamaha said the initiative celebrates its legacy while deepening its connect with India’s motorcycling community.
