ONGC manages fire incidents in Geleky area of Sivasagar

On July 21, 2023, a fire broke out at ONGC Rig SKP-150-II in Sivasagar district’s Geleky area at 1450 hrs, causing damage to well NG#8. ONGC promptly activated its emergency response protocols, and the company’s fire tenders immediately rushed to the site to douse the fire.

 Experts from Regional Crisis Management Team were also mobilized to contain the emergency situation. ONGC Assam Asset’s firefighters swiftly extinguished a fire, preventing loss of life or injuries. Their commitment to safety and well-trained personnel played a pivotal role in managing the incident efficiently.

The fire was extinguished by 1617hrs, but the ONGC firefighting team continued cooling operations. The well site is secured and under constant expert observation, with no injuries reported to ONGC personnel or business partners.ONGC expresses gratitude for the local administration’s support and concern for the local population during a challenging period. The company remains committed to workforce safety and community safety. The incident’s cause is under investigation.
